XGrafter started because the tools trade businesses were being sold didn't match the reality of running the work. So we built our own. Then other trades asked to use it.
A trade business that ended up building software.
Jye McCormick founded XGrafter after years of running a trade business the way most operators end up running one — with a stack of half-connected tools. A take-off app over here, a scheduler over there, a quoting spreadsheet, a jobs platform, a group chat for the crew, a folder full of PDFs somewhere.
Each tool did its bit. None of them talked to each other. Every week ended with the same reconciliation: what did the office quote, what did the crew actually do, and where did the numbers disappear between the two. The margin leak wasn't in one tool — it was in the gaps.
The motive for XGrafter was simple: pull every one of those systems into one place. Take-offs, quotes, jobs, cost centres, schedule, field app, variations, invoicing, Xero — all under one roof, all sharing the same data. Then work with a team to build it properly, without cutting corners on any single module.
What ships today is the result of that build — one platform that replaces the whole stack. Not a beta of one module bolted onto four others. A single ops platform running end to end, with every workflow already tested on real builds.

Every feature is stress-tested on real jobs before it ships to anyone else. If it doesn't survive a real Monday morning on a live site, it doesn't ship.

We don't chase feature-parity checklists. We ship the thing that solves the actual problem the crew are having on site — and no more than that.
Depth over breadth.
Seven modules, not seventy. Each one owns its job end-to-end. The field app really is offline-first. The take-off engine really is quote-ready. No thin surface areas.
Honest defaults.
No dark patterns on pricing. No 'call sales for the real number'. No lock-in. If the product doesn't earn you back the sub every month, it shouldn't be on your bill.
Small. Deliberate. Growing as customers grow.
XGrafter is a small team by design. Jye founded it and runs product direction. A small engineering team builds it. No layers of sales ops. No middle management between you and the person who can fix the bug. As the customer base grows, so does the team — hired against real load, not to look impressive on LinkedIn.

We don't publish a public gantt chart because the schedule moves with what customers actually need. But here's the honest shape of the next 12 months.

A lightweight books view that lives inside XGrafter — payroll timesheet feeds, expense categorisation, and Xero P&L stitched into your job margin view. For trades who don't want to leave the platform to see how the month's going.
Marketplace
A directory of pre-built cost centre templates, prebuild rule sets, invoice templates and settings profiles that trade businesses can share and reuse. Faster onboarding, better defaults, no more starting from scratch.

Licensed multi-tenant
